Is it required to install?

No, it is not required. But the advertisers will know based on your profile that you are not participating and therefore may not select you to carry their sticker or brand.

What does it track and WHAT WILL THE ADVERTISER SEE?

The app is tracking your location periodically at the start of a trip and the end of a trip. It will track your time travelled as well. The app will never show anyone your realtime location.

For now the advertiser will see a heat map of where the sticker has traveled, in addition to the total time and total miles on the road.

Do I have to be logged into the app?

You do have to be logged into the app at all times while you are driving, NOT only while using. Only while using would conflict with other tracking apps like Google maps, etc. So choose at all times so we can show the advertiser a coverage map, total miles or total time their bumper sticker has traveled.

Why do you need to track physical activity?

It needs “physical activity permission” because it needs to tell the difference between walking, running, bicycling, staying still, and driving. Of course we only care about driving. It’s actually a privacy feature (from everyone’s perspective) and an engineering feature (from our perspective, so we don’t collect tons of unnecessary data). This is spelled out on both android and iOS in platform-specific ways.
